May Day International Labor Day (a holiday shared by working people all over the world)
International Labor Day, also known as "May Day" or "International Workers' Day", is a national holiday in more than 80 countries around the world. It is celebrated on the first day of May every year. It is a holiday shared by working people all over the world.
In July 1889, a congress of the Second International, led by Friedrich Engels, was held in Paris. The conference adopted a resolution stipulating that the international workers' parade would be held on May 1, 1890, and decided to designate the day of May 1 as International Labor Day. In December 1949, the State Council of the Central People's Government made a decision to designate May 1 as Labor Day, and after 1989, the State Council basically honored model workers and advanced workers nationwide once every five years, with about 3,000 people being honored each time.
